Macau
This was Portugal's mirror image to Britain's Hong Kong colony (imagine Macau as Atlantic City and Hong Kong as Ocean City, NJ). I never knew it existed until I read about in an old National Geographic. Macau mixes both my interests in small islands and very misguided colonization. I will try and find which N.G. issue featured Macau. Here are some more readings on the former colony.
